What are the key .CO registry policies?
.CO offers liberal registration policies following international best practices:
- Anyone in the world will be able to register domains
- No domicile or burdensome documentation
- Minimum registration of 1 year & a maximum of 5 years
What are the key dates of the .CO registration?
- June 30 to July 19 @ 8PM (PT) – General Availability Pre-Registration phase
- July 20 – General Availability live ongoing registrations phase
Which phase can I register in?
You can register in either of these phases. Please review the descriptions shown below to determine which phase best suits your needs.
What are the differences between the two phases of .CO registration?
General Availability Pre-Registration: June 30 – July 19, 2010 @ 8:00PM (PT)
- Our Pre-registration phase is open to anyone interested in adding their domains to a queued list of .co domains. Domains in this list will take first priority over domains submitted on the General Availability launch date of July 20th. Multiple applications for the same domain name received during the GA Pre-Registration phase will go to auction.
General Availability: July 20, 2010 onwards
- Once the registry opens for live general availability registrations, .CO domains will become available to anyone in the world on a first come first serve basis.
When can I register my .CO domain?
We will offer you the opportunity to secure .CO Landrush domains or pre-register for your .CO General Availability domains starting June 30, 2010 and will continue to offer live .CO domain registration services after the registry opens their General Availability registrations on July 20, 2010.

Why should I pre-register through NameJet using IntaServe’s referral URL?
By submitting your .co pre-registration order through the IntaServe Referral URL, you will be able to consolidate and manage your .co domains through your IntaServe customer account. Additionally, to assist you in securing your .co registrations(s), if your domain(s) go into an auction, and your winning bid exceeds US$1,000, you will receive a %5 rebate on your paid winning bid regardless of the total amount.

Which phases will have auctions?
Multiple domain applications submitted during the GA Pre-Registration phase will participate in auctions.
What determines if a .CO domain will go through the auctioning process?
In the GA Pre-Registration phase, if more than one matching domain is applied for, the duplicate applications will be sent to auction. NameJet, the auction provider, will contact the administrative contacts of the domain applicants by email to provide auction information.
When will an application go to auction?
NameJet will submit duplicate applications for auction as soon as reasonably practical. NameJet controls the auction timing.
BILLING ITEMS
When will I be charged for the registration fees?
The pre-registration and applicable auction fees will be charged following the conclusion of a .co auction. If you are the only applicant for a .co pre-registered domain, you will be charged on or about July 20th, 2010. Any .co domains registered after July 20th, 2010 will be charged at the time of order.
Will I be charged for the General Availability Pre-registration fees if I don’t get the domain?
You will only be charged Pre-registration fees if and when the domain is registered to you. Due to the availability of many quality .CO domains we expect the registry will receive many requests for the same domain when they open up for live registrations on July 20th. Once the domain is registered, the Pre-registration fee is Non-refundable.
Is the General Availability registration fee refundable?
Once the domain is registered, the registration fee is Non-refundable.
TECHNICAL QUESTIONS
What characters are allowed in my .CO domain name?
.CO domain names must meet the following technical requirements:
- 1st and last character must be a letter or number
- Letters A-Z (not case sensitive)
- Numbers 0-9
- Spanish IDNs are permitted
- Cannot include two consecutive dashes (—) in the 3rd and 4th positions
- Underlined characters not allowed
- Dashes (-) are allowed
- Spaces are not allowed
- Cannot exceed 63 characters
- Must not be on reserved list of names
How many years can I register my .CO domain name for?
.CO domains can have term of 1-5 years. |
